The Computer
Freedom means your student can walk away with the computer and you have nothing to worry about.
According to a recent study, 84% of parents are worried about internet safety for their children. Balancing student access with student protection presents an incredible challenge.
The internet is full of resources that might accelerate student growth, but it also provides endless distractions that are a frequent source of strife between students and teachers. Additionally, the internet surfaces dangers of many kinds to students. Administrators have a responsibility to protect their students from the dangers that threaten them. This responsibility is made more difficult by student skill in evading existing protection systems. Teachers are left in a constant state of monitoring and argument. This is why we created the zipline computer. With the zipline computer, you have complete confidence that students are on task and safe, even if they have walked away with the computer. They are completely protected from any influences that the teacher has not approved and the best part is there isn’t any fight involved. Just enter the sites to which you wish to give access. No arguing!
Avoiding dangers and distractions!
Most internet safety systems work by blocking websites in the browser one at a time. This leads to an ever-evolving game of whack-a-mole as students find new distractions and administrators attempt to block them. How about if you never had to supervise students screens????
Even when administrators ban all but a few sites, clever students are often able to circumvent the bans through other browsers or systems that they download onto the computer. We tried all the existing systems and students kept finding loopholes. This is why we decided to take a new approach. Instead of engaging at the browser level, the Zipline Computer goes to the heart of the issue. All Zipline computers have a customized operating system that removes the student’s ability to circumvent protections. The student either uses the controlled browser, which only accesses sites allowed by the teacher or administrator, or the student uses Zipline. There are no other options. By working all the way down to the operating system level, the Zipline Computer ensures students are safe and on task by removing all 3rd party distractions. This also removes the nightmare of network administration for your school. Smaller schools without a dedicated network administrator will find unparalleled ease of use.
A totally different approach
Only websites you approve!
Instead of banning sites one at a time, Zipline Computer begins with every site banned. It does not have a browser that allows students to search the internet aimlessly.
Instead, parents upload the links to the websites that they want their students to access, and those sites appear as buttons on the student’s home screen. These buttons can be easily activated or deactivated by the parents at any time. Once a student is on an allowed site, they cannot leave it. Even if the site contains links to external pages, the Zipline Computer disables them keeping the student on task.
